History

The Deddington Arms is a 16th-century building overlooking the Market Place of Deddington, Oxfordshire.

Originally constructed with partial timber framing and later altered over successive centuries, it's surviving elements — including stone mullioned windows and prominent chimney stacks — reflect its long life and evolution.

For much of its history the building operated as a coaching inn named the King’s Arms, and later the Queen’s Arms.

Located on the principal Oxford to Banbury road, it was a regular stop for stagecoaches such as the Rival and Regulator on daily runs to Oxford, Banbury and beyond.

In 1996, the inn was renamed the Deddington Arms shortly after the local parish was granted its own coat of arms. Today it is a Grade-listed historic pub and hotel, combining traditional character with modern hospitality, including guest rooms and an award-winning restaurant.
